Getting off Depakote

I've been taking Effexor XR and Depakote for 5 years. For Depakote I take (2) 500 MG pills a day. Anyways, I'm discontinuing use of the Depakote because it serves no purpose for me since I am mearly Unipolar and don't need a "tranq" because I never get mania. What I would like to know from others on the board is the weaning off process for this pill. Going off of this cold Turkey once before didn't seem to do any harm and I don't recall any withdrawal symptoms because the Effexor took care of that. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
