Lexapro, Celexa, Prozac -- what to do?

Posted by wolo on August 19, 2004, at 16:51:36

Hi,

I'm new to this but found myself reading everything and always wanting to respond or ask questions...so here I am. I'll start with my first questtion:

For several years I was taking Prozac for depression and slight anxiety which seemed to work for me. About a year ago I stopped on my own because I thought everything was great and I didn't need it anymore. Recent incidents have sparked the anxiety in me and I can't shake it at all..plus I always have an underlying depression. Both Anxiety/Depression are now consumming my thoughts and I think, despite my resistance, I need to try taking something again. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions regarding Lexapro vs. Celexa? I DREAD DREAD DREAD the side effects which is why I've been holding out. I CAN NOT deal with having any additional sleeping problems -- insomnia which is what I'm trying to get away from not gain and based on the postings it seems both LExapro and Celexa cause insomnia, tiredness in day, etc. Do these subside with time or is it constant. I DO NOT want to take additional meds to combat sleeping problems and jitters. HELP I'm so confused on what to do! (causing me more anxiety!)
