In reply to CHEMIST, can you please read my post? Thanks » watergirl, posted by watergirl on August 18, 2004, at 13:01:54
hello there, chemist here...i am curious at the outset as to why you were deprived of trileptal and xanax when your seizures first manifested: what explanation has been given to you, aside from ruling out the unlikely cause of the seizures coming from an anticonvulsant and/or an anxiolytic? i am assuming that trileptal is suspect, in addition to wellbutrin, in that xanax is back on the menu, and a different anticonvulsant is in place of trileptal: can you clear this up a bit? now, as to your question: my answer is a very firm ``i do not know,'' although i could go out on a limb and hypothesize that a substance that raises blood pressure and heightens alertness in most individuals is something that ought to be avoided by those who have or have had seizures. however, the mechanistic aspects of epilepsy and seizures associated with the disorder are not necessarily potentiated by the actions of CNS stimulants (or antidepressants, for that matter), but this is getting into an area that i am uncomfortable in pursuing: this is best left to a medical doctor familiar with your case...apologies for the long lead-up, but i am not comfortable in this area and do urge you to seek the advice of a doctor of the correct ``flavor,'' such as your own or a properly-referred neurologist. all the best, chemist
