And yes it depends on the amount of tyramine ingested as well, but the same amount of ingested tyramine will have a greater effect with lower levels of MAO enzyme than higher levels. i do not see how what you read would make any sense or be accurate.

Perhaps the point to be made is that MAO inhibition can occur at a relatively low dose (occasionally even spontaneous reactions without ingesting tyramine). If you metabolize the drug slowly, the more chance a lower dose could cause prolems. Again just speculating.
