> Hi all,
> I would appreciate if you'd let me know if you or anyone else you know has had a reaction to topamax. I took it for about a week and then had to be hospitalized through the ER for acute hives..swelling, fever, the works. I have had hives before but never this bad, and this is the only time it could be medication related. My P doc says no way it was the topamax, but what do you think? Thanks!

chemist here....i think your doctor is full of it. all the anticonvulsants - topamax being no exception - are prime candidates for reactions such as yours. i suggest seeing a dermatologist, ask for a plug biopsy, and is there are eosinophils present, then the drug reaction hypothesis is probably right-on....let me know how things turn out, and all the best, chemist
