> Ur on effexor and remeron right?....i'm on 45mg of remeron and 75mg of effexor....the doc didn't want to raise the effexor because i'm "already on two anti-depressants." Although, she left the option open to go higher, but I thought consulting with u guys would help my decision. There havn't been any bad side effects thus far, besides a small change in sleeping (helped by neurontin b4 bed)and some dry mouth. I was just wondering what could be expected from a higher dose...I don't want to be too far out there..haha It seems to be stimulating, but also calming...anyway, let me know ur thoughts..thanx

Hi there.

Not too long ago, I was taking imipramine 300mg + Effexor 300mg + Remeron 45mg. I don't think it is valid to look at two antidepressants that do such different things as being pharmacologically additive. The idea is to pick out drugs that are therapeutically synergistic. Effexor and Remeron are theoretically complementary in that there is no overlap in mechanisms. What one drug lacks, the other makes up for. Nevertheless, every drug combination for which there is little clinical data should be implemented cautiously.

In my opinion, Effexor can not be considered thoroughly explored until the dosage is brought up to 300mg.

Let us know what happens.

Good luck.
