Is this a panic attack? Anxiety? both?

Posted by HelenInCalif on April 5, 2004, at 3:42:53

I posted earlier this weekend about Trazadone (any advice on that welcome-- will 50-100mg daily help w/ depression or just w/ insomnia?) and want to ask for help on symptoms I'm noticing. Are these panic attack symptoms? Can one have one for several days straight?

I'm sitting here after a weekend of procrastinating. But every time I sit in front of my computer to work, I'm getting a weird sensation. My heart rate goes up- like in nervousness- but I'm used to that. There is also something new.

I'm noticing (and remembering from this past week) that I'm getting odd feelings in my body, especially in my forearms and upper legs. Its hard to describe, but I'll try anyways:

Its sort of a warm feeling. Its a little bit like after a foot's been asleep and then awake again. Its also sort of like a negative version of oxytocin (oxytocin being that chemical released when you have a crush on someone)- sort of a fluttery feeling. Its also vaguely like memories of dreams where you can't move in the dream.

I'm also finding myself somewhat frozen in front of the computer even at work: really, really slow. I'm fairly sure I've got some depression (mentally and physically, although emotionally I'm reasonably happy [unless thinking about work projects or about a big stress from 3 weeks ago]). But this body sensation is new to me.
