Bi-polar is a very common diagnosis and the great trick to it is that it requires life time medication. I spent ten years on meds for bi-polar disorder and it was a real struggle to get off them. I don't believe I am bi-polar but that's a tricky thing to say after accepting it for ten years. I accepted it becuase I desperately needed help with depression and I didn't believe that I had a right to consider a doctor's "diagnosis" and accept or reject it for myself.
Coming from my background, I've got to say, Don't start treatment for something unless you really believe you have it, not just because a doctor speculates that you do, and don't start treatment unless the specific symptoms are a real burden to you, not just because you happen to exhibit a few "bi-polar-ish" characteristics.
Hope this helps.
