I went to see my weight loss doctor today for the second time -- the first time he just ordered some blood work. I went back in today expecting that he would be prescribing the Didrex (benzphetamine) he's been talking about, and it turned out my blood pressure is borderline high (on a side note, regarding the lab work -- to all the Atkins nay-sayers out there, just let me say that my cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood sugar are all perfectly normal now after several months back on Atkins whereas they were all at pretty darn unhealthy levels before I started the diet!!).
Anyway, he gave me a month's supply of Avapro (irbesartan), a newer antihypertensive medication. I checked the PDR to find out if it would interfere with the action of my Adderall XR (60mg/day) and could find no information, other than the fact that it only weakly crosses the blood-brain barrier, which I suppose could indicate that it won't alter the efficacy of the amphetamines.
But does anyone have any further information? It would be greatly appreciated -- on the one hand I worry about the hypertension (especially being only 21 years old), but I absolutely cannot and will not give up the Adderall. Thanks!
