Hi kattay..I experienced a lot of hyperactivity when I first started Effexor, which caused a lot of "cotton-mouth" and overall dryness, that eventually went away once my body got adjusted to the medication. Just keep yourself hydrated the best you can. As for the emotional roller-coaster, I experience that with almost every medication I go on! I just tell myself that it's going to happen every time, and that it's just a side effect, not a character flaw, and that it too shall pass! I know, easier said than done, but hang in there...Effexor is a real life saver for me, and hopefully it will work for you too. Keep in touch and good luck!
