I have trembling hands with Depakote, almost like a palsy. I can't eat soup, I spill food all over the front of my shirt when I eat, I can't eat in public, it's embarrassing! I'm only 44.
I knew there was a trade-off with having epilepsy and bipolar, such as having to take meds the rest of my life, having bleeding gums, losing teeth, 100+ pound weight gain; but the shaking hands and upper arms - this is ridiculous. I have no strength in my upper arms. I used to play the piano, dance, and do step aerobcis. But not anymore! The medicine has messed up all my motor nerve functions. The happy part of the story of that my doc is switching me to Topamax in three months - he gave me 25 mg. to blend in with the Depakote with my night dosage.
