Temporary Replacement for Cipralex?

Posted by Guiseppe on November 13, 2003, at 11:38:52

I am currently abroad in South America. I take 10mg Cipralex (escitalopram) a day for depression and have been for seven months. Unfortunately I am staying longer than I expected and do not have enough tablets. None of the pharmacies here stock Cipralex but only the older version (citalopram). They say this is the same which I know is only partially true. Is it okay to temporarily (for one month) switch to citalopram and are the dosages the same? Is there an alternative? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
