Lexapro- What's going on with me???

Posted by tiredman on November 12, 2003, at 13:26:27

I am sensitive to meds so I started Lex slowly. I went from 2.5 mg. to 5 to 7.5
and now 10 over a three week period.

I am so "jumpy" right now I can hardly stand it. I thought if I eased my way up
I would avoid this (though each increase did make me a little more jumpy). From
reading this board it looks like it takes about two weeks for the SEs to go
away. Am I now starting from scratch (i.e., I need to suffer for two more weeks)
or do you think I'll get "time off for good behavior" (because I have been
taking it for three weeks)?

Lexapro is strange stuff. I felt really good on Monday morning (I was taking 7.5
mg.) The best that I had felt in weeks. Stressful situations at work lead to an
increase in anxiety which lead to a crying session in my car on the way home.
All the benefits of Lex were gone. I felt like day one. All I can think of is
that the 7.5mg dose was the absolute minimum for me. That's why I bumped it up
to 10.

I have a prescription for Lorazapam (2.0 mg at night for sleep). I'm resisting
taking one now because it will be hard enough to quit when the time comes. I
don't want to get into the habit of taking it during the day. I guess all I can
do is "tough it out"
