In reply to Any poop-out with Effexor XR ?..., posted by charly on September 2, 2003, at 19:06:59
I don't know about other people's experiences, but I've been on Effexor XR for just over a month now (starting at 37.5 and moving to 75) and, though it really seemed to help a lot at first, lately, especially this past week or so, I'm feeling more like I did before - more moody spells, consistent tiredness, wish to escape, more suicidal thoughts and/or thoughts about hurting myself (which really frighten me, because they come out of nowhere - I'll be walking down the hall, thinking about soemthing else, and suddenly it pops into my head "man, I hate my life. Wouldn't a suicide attempt solve a lot?" but I digress). I have an appointment with my doctor next week and have decided to ask her about upping my dosage, because overall I was very happy with this drug - side effects nothing I couldn't handle, and increased drive and ambition (i.e. I had some). I hope that this doesn't mean that Effexor will 'poop-out' on me again after I get accustomed to the new dosage. Frankly, right now I'm more inclined to think that it's more a result of my own mind - that I need to make more of an effort to improve myself outside the medication. Man, I wish I could get counselling...but again, I digress.
I don't know if this answers your question or not. Hope it helps!
