My reply is first directed to Mel, then Budgie. First, I'd say that if you're going to get involved with natural sleep aids, such as herbal remedies, be real careful that they're not contraindicated with Parnate.
Now, for Budgie-- I, too have experienced the "night owl" thing with Parnate. If I were you, I wouldn't get too stressed out over getting only five hours of sleep a night. There's a big difference between insomnia and what I call a "reduced need for sleep." For me Parnate does the latter, and I too can feel rested and OK the next morning on 5 hours of sleep. Try not to get hung up on the usual advice that people should get this amount or that amount of sleep (traditionally it was 8 hrs.). Everyone--even those who are not taking meds--is different and Parnate will cut that number down for sure. Feeling much better, having sufficient energy, and getting *good-quality* sleep are what matters most.
