Strattera and Hyperactivity in Children

Posted by Lasagne on August 10, 2003, at 13:23:56

HI Everybody:
I thought I would pass some new information I learned from my doctor along to those who may be trying to treat with child with ADHD with Strattera. Anyway, I have a 10 year old son with ADHD. He was having a hard time when his Adderall would wear off in the evening, so we decided to discontinue it for a while. He has also been taking 50 mgs. of Strattera. At the last appointment my doctor told me that he went to dinner recently with one of the Strattera researchers. He said that they are finding that higher doses are needed in children with the hyperactivity component. So now my doctor says that the dose my son should be on for his particular weight is actually 75 mgs. He gets somewhat good control with the 50 mgs., so today we will begin the 75 mg regemine. I will keep you posted on his progress. Hopefully this will do the trick and we won't have to put him back on the Adderall when school starts.
