I think it's just a matter of knowing your limits, and cautiously testing the combination. I'm so used to Klonopin now that I really don't notice any difference if I have a drink or two -- but then, I take a small dose of K in the morning and only drink alcohol in the evening. I wouldn't recommend mixing the two directly, and certainly be careful if you have to drive. Everyone's tolerance varies, so if you're taking benzos, be very cautious with alcohol or anything else that is a CNS depressant (this includes many opiate-containing painkillers, antihistamines, etc.).
