adding birth control to med mix?

currently on seroquel augmented by xanax prn. pdoc wants to add depakote. i plan to get pregnant within a year or so, but want to make certain it doesn't happen while i'm on the mood stabilizer due to fear of birth defects. i also don't want to add anything into the mix that might make me more nuts. i've had *bad* experiences in the past with tweaking my hormones, so i thought i'd try the mildest one, that new yasmin, i think it's called. has anyone got any advice that's been in a similar situation? i'm wary of birth control, but i think it's just too dangerous to risk.
