In reply to Strattera and Wellbutrin - what's the difference?, posted by DiscoPuppy on July 9, 2003, at 15:37:33
Wellbutrin drove me up the wall, with very unpleasant side effects. I was apprehensive about taking Strattera because of its mechanism of action, given my reaction to WB. But my pdoc said that in his experience, people seem to react very differently to Strattera than WB, and that WB has numerous, only vaguely understood actions on other neurotransmitters that may explain its side effects for some (like me).
Having used Strattera for a short while now, I agree that it's very different. It has a calming, focusing effect for me, and I'm very enthusiastic about it. I did have some mild side effects (nausea etc.), but those disappeared very quickly. If you try it, just be careful with dosage increases, and go up fairly slowly.
