Benadryl seems appropriate, then, as it reduces sleep latency (the length of time it takes to fall asleep).

No, it should have worn off by then. You'll likely "reset your clock", so you're waking more nearly when you'd expect (because you'd start to sleep more nearly when you'd expect).

You could become tolerant, fer sure. Dependency would require more time. 10 days straight is the maximum recommended time-frame, without medical supervision.

No, not if your sleep is that screwed up. (My non-medical opinion.) You'll have something to report (success or failure).
