In reply to vitamin E therapy for Tardive Dyskinesia, posted by Mama Bear on May 16, 2003, at 17:44:21
What symtoms emerged in her? I am sorry that happened. Have they give you reason to believe it may fade over time?
How does one tell the difference between a tic and a TD symptom? Many thanks.
> My 5 yr old has tardive dyskinesia from the 17 months she was taking Respirdal. These doctors don't even know the true side effects from this drug even though they are prescribing it to a 3 yr old at the time. She was on 3mg by the 15 month mark on this drug. We did not really notice any thing until she was taken off the respirdal. They put her on prozac for what they called Obsessive compulsive disorder and told us to wean her off of respirdal. The only side effect we were ever told about from the respirdal was the appetite increase and weight gain. That was it. We were shocked when we learned that she had Tardive Dyskinesia. Has anyone had any success with high doses of vitamin E. Has anyone ever tried Lethacin for TD? I would really like to hear from anyone who has tried these two remedies or if you have found something else that works. The doctors did offer me one option. They told us that we could put her back on the drug that damaged her brain in the first place. You see alot of these drugs mask what it is doing to your brain until you come off the offending agent. This is not an option for us and we would really like to help her so she can enjoy being a kid again. She deserves some sort of qualitiy of life. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
