Long term Zyprexa/Risperidone use.

Posted by ace on March 27, 2003, at 17:54:57

Essentially when I start a drug that works I like to know that I could be on it for life.

I have heard of a woman who was on low dose Thioridizane (Mellaril) for 10 yrs with NO probs. And this drug has a much greater risk of EPS than the newer atypical antipsychotics.

Thinking of Zyprexa, I mean, if you were on this drug or Risperidone for 20+ years low dose, do you think it would- without doubt- cause TD or other EPS?

I'm think taking Zyprexa or Risperidone low dose and evry 6 months having a 2-4 weeks break, where I remain just on Nardil. Do you think such a strategy would strongly mitigate the chances of EPS?

BTW, how long have any of you been on these drugs? Any probs?

Thanks Friends...

Ace.
