In reply to anyone taking celexa at night?, posted by den2 on March 25, 2003, at 13:25:23
I also take Celexa in the morning, but I am on some tranquilizing meds as well, both am and pm that I cannot tell if the Celexa is contributing to the tiredness I also feel or not. I find that I have to drink about 16 oz. of coffee after I get up and wow, what a difference. Then I'm fine through the day. My pdoc is going to be taking me off some of the sedating meds, so hopefully this will give me a better idea of how the Celexa is affecting me.
HOWEVER, I have read that of all the SSRI type a-d's, Celexa has the most *neutral* profile in terms of being neither sedating nor stimulating.
What dosage are you on? Might it be too high? You could ask your pdoc if you could switch it to night time and see if it helps you sleep.
In my case, I don't think it's the Celexa that's making it hard for me to feel awake in the am, so I doubt that taking it at night would help me sleep. In fact, I've never heard of Celexa being taken at night to help with sleep. This is just one person's info.
