Effexor for Post Partum Depression?

Posted by Mishka on January 26, 2003, at 10:36:13

Hello,

I went to my doctor yesterday for depression and anxiety, post partum, and he gave me a prescription for Effexor, 37.5mg a day. I have only taken one dose, but within hours I was, and still am, horribly nauseated and had insomnia that night. Was this too high a dose to start? Should I not take another dose till I can talk to my doctor next week? I'm pretty sensitive to meds. Also, from what I have been reading, this drug seems quite intense, with bad wihtdrawal symptoms, I'm thinking it may be a bit much for something like PPD that's supposed to be temporary? Any advice/answers are much appreciated!
