I can't add too much to xjs7's post, other than to say I also took cogentin for EPS caused by an anti-psychotic and it worked well for that (mostly tremors) and I also had dry mouth for a short time. But your side effects sound much worse then sweating and I'm sure you made a good decision to stop the drug. I've taken clonidine (aka catapres) for withdrawal symptoms from benzos, if I remember correctly (and I'm too lazy to look), it's a sympatholytic drug used for hypertension. The side-effects are usually sedation (which helps the anxiety caused by benzo withdrawal). I also had dry mouth with this drug and a pronounced feeling that my heartbeat was slower. Best of luck with reducing your sweating. BTW, did you have a dose increase recently with your effexor? Just curious, because that can have some nasty side-effects. Take care, judy
