In my opinion, which is not an authoritative one, Dr. Phelps is too biased toward seeing bipolar disorder and perhaps the strict avoidance of anti-depressants as well. Nonetheless, he provides some valuable information and important questions you can raise with your pdoc. Just remember, don't diagnose yourself. Give the new diagnosis a chance, but if things don't improve, get a second opinion from someone more qualified. My last pdoc said I was bipolar without a doubt, but I didn't start to get better until I changed pdocs and my treatment was more focused on depression and anxiety. I hope things start to get better for you!
