So I was driving in the road, minding my own business, when all of a sudden this hypnic jerk cut me off....
j/k. Really, I do get "hypnic jerks" a few times in a night when I take Benadryl for sleep (2 25mg pills). Since all OTC sleep aids use the same active ingredient as Bendryl does, my only alternative is a prescription med.
I take Benadryl occassionally because the Adderall keeps me from sleeping even though I feel tired. But the Benadryl, in the process of causing drowsiness, gives me troubling thoughts-- vague, undistinctive voices and blurry faces speaking in my head. And I consider myself a well-balanced person mentally, no mood disorder or personality disorder whatsoever.
I right now am "wasting" my PRN-prescribed Klonopin to go to sleep, but it's necessary if I want to wake up tomorrow refreshed. I've been having sleeping problems with adderall for awhile now, but I never thought of talking to my doctor about it... I always thought sleeping pills were for "people with sleeping problems." I'm sort of realizing I'm "one of those people." Weird how sometimes I've alienated my own conditions from myself, lol-- in grade school I thought ADD kids were "lazy," then realized I had so many problems at school because I had ADD, only I didn't find this out until I went to college. Weird stuff.
