Essentially the time frames you've outlined that each drugs effects last are correct, give or take an hour or two. Kind of differs for everyone. I'm a little confused about what your concerns are. Is the sedation of the klonopin what your concerned about? If it is, stop taking the klonopin and take a .25mg dose of xanax 3-4/day. Xanax has antidepressant properties, sort of an uplifting affect. If you are trying to build a steady state of klonopin in your system, stop taking the xanax and take .5mgs of klonopin in the morning and .5mgs in the evening. Klonopin can be very sedating for some that never goes away, while for others the sedation wears off in a week or two and just alleviates anxiety. You might try taking .25mgs of the klonopin in the am and .25mgs in the pm to avoid excess sedation until your body adjusts to it, then up the dose to .5mgs am and pm if .25mgs isn't enough.
Did you just start these drugs? How severe is your anxiety? Your taking pretty low doses of both and as such I don't understand why you are using both drugs unless you are using the xanax initially while letting the klonopin build to a steady state in your body, then dropping the xanax.
If your having rebound anxiety from the xanax, try taking the klonopin an hour or so before you usually would, to see if that doesn't help your feelings of potential withdrawals from the xanax.
A little more detail about why you are taking these drugs would help. And are you new to benzo's?
In all honesty, you should address your concerns with your doctor. There is some potential logic to taking both drugs at the same time, one if you are just starting the drugs, using the xanax initially to stop anxiety until the klonopin kicks in, but that is a rare rx as klonopin usually starts working within a day or two at the most. The other being that you are using klonopin as a maintenance dose and xanax for those extra tough times that call for quick relief. But it's hard to tell from the limited info in your post. Let us know more and perhaps we can give more appropriate advice.
