I am diagnosed bipolar. Part of the reason I was taking Klonopin
was because it fixed myofacial pain.I found that Topamax also fixed my myofacial pain and tapered my
Klonopin from 6 mg to 2 mg in about 6 weeks. I tried to taper the
last 2 mg, but gave up (too painful).I miss the calming effect of Klonopin. I haven't found a suitable
replacement. Neurontin is probably a good substitute and it did help
with my agitation, but not with my headaches. My doctor did prescribe
Adderall for a while to help offset the lethargy from the Klonopin and
the combination was effective until I developed Klonopin tolerance.
The Adderall (or dexedrine) is good for some people to help be more sociable. After I grew tolerant to the Klonopin, I had extreme difficulty
falling asleep and had to rely heavily on OTC sleep aids to knock
me out. I later found Remeron,Serzone, and Zyprexa to be good adjuncts.Take Care,
John
