Question on Lithobid

I was curious about those of you on Lithobid -- I tried Lithium and it knocked me out; all I wanted to do was sleep. My pdoc said Lithobid would do the same thing.
True??
Also, I had to stop the Neurontin -- it also knocked me out, made me too fatigued to function.
Maybe I'll try Lamictal again, and try SAM-e with it ...
I'm losing hope.
