Methylphenidate - In a single-dose study in healthy volunteers, coadministration of modafinil (200 mg) with methylphenidate (40 mg) did not cause any significant alterations in the pharmacokinetics of either drug. However, the absorption of PROVIGIL may be delayed by approximately one hour when coadministered with methylphenidate. (Above from RXList.)

Said you can take it with or without food but that food also delays absorption 1 hour.
