Bonjour Geno,
There is a study which mentions how desipramine counteracts the anti-panic properties of imipramine. The clinical relevance of this needs to be proven again to have some semblance of truth:
McLeod, Daniel R. PhD *. "Therapeutic Effects of Imipramine Are Counteracted by Its Metabolite, Desipramine, in Patients With Generalized Anxiety Disorder." Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology, Dec 2000.
Dropping the desipramine if necessary would not mean that the antidepressant effect of desipramine would be lost forever:
"Eleven (91.7%) of the 12 relapsed patients achieved full remission after an average of 4.7 weeks (range=2-8 weeks, median=4 weeks) of desipramine retreatment, a significant response rate. Conclusions: Positive response to desipramine strongly predicts favorable response to retreatment for depressive relapse following desipramine discontinuation. (Am J Psychiatry 1995; 152:926-928)"
Either Zoloft or Remeron should have anti-panic prinicples, assuming you reach a therapeutic range such that the serotonin reuptake/norepinephrine pumps are inhibited more than 80%. For Sertaline, this dose is I believe 100 mg:
Good to see you posting,
