> Glad to know all is going well with you too!Hi,
Yes, Yes and Yes again!
It is such a wonderful drug! One of the best benefits is that I'm more social than I've ever been in my life. I love to engage in conversation, and I think the people I talk with really enjoy talking to me, because I'm much more articulate, my memory is unreal, and at the same time, I enjoy the give and take of a conversation without trying to dominate it.
I am also able to shift attention very well, and I've gotten very well organized.
Since Christmas Eve, I’ve been happy most of the time. Now, I was taking the Adrafinil for a couple weeks prior to Christmas, so I definitely think that drug was working fine. I saw my pdoc (he’s a pediatrician that specializes in ADD with children and adults) on December 31. When I told him that I was taking the Adrafinil and I thought it was helping me and that I was interested in Modafinil one of the metabolites of Adrafinil, he didn’t know what the Modafinil was! Once I mentioned that it was a drug indicated for Narcolepsy, he immediately said “Oh yeah, Provigil.” I guess he is used to using the brand name. Anyway, get this: He told me that he was so impressed with the drug for people with Inattentive/Deep Limbic ADD that he decided to buy stock in the company that manufactures the Provigil! (Cephalon?) I hope he makes a mint. He readily agreed that I try the Provigil, and he told me not to take it with the Adrafinil.
My new insurance company is still balking at giving me coverage for the drug, so now I’m taking Adrafinil. I’ve decided to cut back to 600 mg a day, because at 1200 mg a day it would cost me just as much as Provigil without insurance!
Quite frankly, the two drugs seem identical for me. I get a little cottonmouth using either drug, but that’s the only negative side effect. (Actually, it could be considered a positive side effect, because I need to drink more water anyway.)
Here is a list of the positive side effects from Adrafinil/Provigil (some may have to do with the other drugs in my mix):
Increased libido
Increased drive
Increased memory (big time)
Increased confidence (big time)
Love social situations (love to tell jokes and stories)
Calm and Relaxed (If I feel like taking a nap—no problem)
Sleep/Wake Cycle is perfect (This also has to do with the Wellbutrin, Klonipin and the Clonidine and occasionally-- Concerta 54 mg)
Appetite is restored
I’m generally happy, but in a relaxed way—not hypomanic at allRight now, I’m a very lucky guy.
