Antidepressants are not suppose to alleviate normal emotional responses to life circumstances. Theorectically, the only effects you would feel are probably the side-effects .... which occur no matter what your situation.

I alway thought of antidepressants as giving people *potential*. That is, when depressed you feel nothing ... not happy, not sad ... just emtpy. With antidepressants, people are given the ability to feel happy, excited, sad, etc. They allow you to feel the normal range of emotions.
