A depression is said to be "atypical" if the following criteria are met:
A. mood reactivity (can be cheered up by pleasant events), and
B. at least two of the following:
1. trait rejection sensitivity
2. hypersomnia or increased need for sleep
3. increased appetite or weight gain
4. extreme lethargy and feelings of heaviness in the limbs ("leaden paralysis")-elizabeth
