In reply to garlic?, posted by mist on April 16, 2001, at 3:03:15
i know a bit about garlic - it's my favorite herbal supplement and i take it regularly. it is the closest thing to panacea in the herbal world, as far as i know. it's used for antibacterial and antiviral properties. it has the tendency of opening up blood vessels a bit and thus it increases blood flow - this may be where you are noticing a reduction in anxiety. garlic also has calmative effects on nerve endings - another potential source for noticing a reduction of anxiety. i would be careful in the amount of garlic taken at one time, though, and would make sure to take it with food or milk - it can seriously irritate the stomach.
someone else replied in this thread and mentioned sexual side effects being a moot point...again, it increases blood flow, something that has a tendency to help certain...organs...in the body.
