My Dr and Sarafem

Posted by Bree on March 16, 2001, at 17:41:23

Hello,
I am a 19 year old girl and I recently went to see my doctor about switching over to a birth control pill that contained only progestorine as opposed to that and estrogen (the minnie pill).

I wanted to do this becuase I get so over emotional around that time of the month and didn't think that the extra estrogen was doing me any good.

My doctor gave me a month worth of Sarafem without really listening to my syptoms. I have seen commercials for PMDD and didn't feel that I qualified as a candidate.

I don't have too much bloating and no cramps/pain. I do, however, get very upset with my boyfriend. It seems like it has to be one specific way or I am just a bundle of tears. That is not the way that I want to be, nor is that the way that I mean to be. I make everything very difficult for the both of us.

I think that maybe I can change without the aid of drugs. I feel hesitant about taking Sarafem because even though my doctor gave it to me, she didn't seem too concerned with whether or not I really needed it.

Should I try it? Are there risks? How long does it take for it to exit the body after consumption has ceased? If this is a solution to what I am experiencing, I will try it. But I dont want to if I shouldn't.

Any advice and information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
