It doesn't sound "normal" nor pleasant to me. I would think that if Effexor was going to have a positive effect for you, it would have done so by now. Have you seen your doctor recently? I don't think you should have to put up with uncomfortable side effects when there are so many options available.

I would (just my opinion) make another appointment with your doctor, explain what is going on, and ask if he has an alternative. It can take a lot of experimentation to find a medication that helps and has few side effects, but when you do hit on the right one, you will find it well worth your effort.
