Toby was very helpful, extremely knowledgeable, but I do understand why some of the babble-landers wanted a little clarification. When you have someone giving advice as not necessarily a professional but someone close to one, there is a need to know who or what this professional is. If I want to build trust and have real fruitful exchanges, I have to remain true to who I am.
Sometimes that includes stating my gender whether I like it or not. There is a real limit to the amount of trust that can be placed in someone when that someone blatantly refuses to set the record straight. Sometimes the price is just too high, and one must keep their anonymity while also carrying the repercussions of such a decision.
When I first found psycho-babble, St. James, Big Bertha, Toby (and others) were a pivotal point in my ability to cope with my long-term depression. What these people wrote and shared from their own struggles gave me so much power, the power to seek help. I wish that the whole Toby situation would have concluded with better results, but we must each count the cost and consequences of revealing too much or not enough for our own healing and health. And that's all there is to it.
In thought,
