In reply to Wellbutrin not working, posted by M on May 4, 2000, at 23:39:58
M,
You need to give the Wellbutrin time to work. Medications for depression normally take atleast 3 weeks to take effect. Read through the messages posted on this board, there's some great information here. Don't stop taking your medication or increase your dose without talking to your doctor. I've suffered from depression my entire life. I first started on medication in 1989. After 2 weeks of medication, I was even more depressed because I thought the medicine wasn't working. For me, taking medication was my last hope of leading a "normal", happy life. When the meds didn't seem to work, I thought my situation was hopeless. After about 4 weeks, I realized I was happy! The lights had been turned on in my world. There is hope, don't give up too soon. You've found a wonderful place to hang out in cyberspace. The psycho-babble board is filled with intelligent, compassionate people who really understand what you're going through. Welcome :^)

> Hi, I'm new here. I've been taking Wellbutrin, 150mg/day, for about 2 weeks, and 300mg/day for about 3 days. I'm taking it for depression and withdrawal symptoms from food addiction. Anyway, it worked for a few days but now it's not working at all; my depression is just as bad as without it (though perhaps it would be even worse if I weren't on it). What I'm wondering is, is this normal? Also, can I take St. John's Wort at the same time? Thanks!
