> I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1993. My first 'major depression' hit in 1992...since then I've had chronic depression. The use of prozac and zoloft spurred severe manias requiring hospitalizations...hence, the diagnosis of bipolar. I can't tolerate lithium, tegretol, nor depakote. I'm up to 1800mg neurontin and still have the chronic depression. I'm waiting to try the reboxetine when it's available. I am wondering how high of a dose would be needed to help prevent another severe manic attack with the use of a new antidepressant. I've tried all the newer antidepressants with no success.

wow. very similar. I am now on neurontin, wellbutrin, and tapering off of klonopin. i am only taking 900mg of neurontin, but my pdoc says I could eventually go to a much higher dose...how do you feel on that dose? Side effects? I have a strange metallic taste in my mouth and some short term memory loss, although I can't conclusively attribute that to the neurontin
