OK, I've discussed this one with Shar and I think it's really cool.

What two businesses are always busy? A pharmacy and a coffee house. So my idea is to combine a Pharmacy/Starbucks (still searching for the perfect name).

When you go to get a script filled, you generally have the usual 15-30 minute wait, sometimes longer. So you can leave and come back, which is a pain in the butt. Or you can wander the aisles, and if you’ve been to the place before, this is probably pretty boring. You can always just sit and wait, staring aimlessly. Hey, if you’re lucky, they might even have one of those free blood pressure testers. That’ll kill a minute.

Ah, but my pharmacy has a Starbucks! When you drop off your rx, you’re given a number. You can then go to the Starbucks, order a latte, mocha, a pastry, whatever suits you, and relax in one of our plush booths while waiting for your rx to be filled. There would be a daily paper at each booth, along with magazines. Or you could strike up conversations with other customers too! You would sit the little placard with your number on it on your table, and when your prescription was ready, it would be delivered to you.

I’m thinking that the shop could also have added to it, a section for things like aspirins, cough medicines, women’s needs, greeting cards, etc., etc. I also liked the idea of the possibility of a one-hour photo? The possibilities are endless.

But most importantly would be the personnel. Remembering that money is no object, I’d do an exhaustive search for every position. Customer service would have to be the number one priority. I’d want the best available Managers, Pharmacists, Techs, and Cashiers. And I would pay to get the best because my customers were worth it. When a customer came into my store, I’d want them to remember it as being a special experience, and they’d definitely want to come back again.

A boy’s gotta have his dreams, right?

Greg
