c-pstd: any fast, temporary relief for a crisis?

Posted by floatingbridge on November 27, 2009, at 0:37:27

Hi,

Painful unexpected memory in session destabilized me. Frightened and grief-stricken. Intrusive, horrible image thoughts. Anything besides extra benzo that I can take as needed to tone things down a bit--just temporary.

Any experience welcome,

Overnight hugs to you until more people read you post in the daytime.
I don't really have an answer to you question, I'm sorry to say. Seems like the suggestions bandied about (well, more for the woes of depression, I think) often are to take a bubble bath, make a warm cup of tea, maybe watch a funny movie, or put on music you like. ABBA lifts my spirits sometimes. But really, if hearing of those suggestions just peeves you more, I understand that, too. Can going to bed help? Also, it may not be healthy, but I might turn to food. Shame on me for even suggesting that? I pray your crisis passes quickly.

Softtheprairie,

I really appreciate your post--and no, the suggestions didn't peeve me at all--I was touched that you responded. Yesterday I don't think those distractions and comfortings would have worked--though I would have stayed in bed longer had I been able to.

Today is better. I did not wake up from nightmares--no frightening images--. My experience shook me up--I thought that awfulness was far, far away. Today is another day, and I can restart.

Thanks so much for writing,
