My 2004....a year best forgotten

Posted by Phil on December 8, 2004, at 7:34:33

I guess I'll put this in a list-too much writing otherwise.

1. Urinary infection that no doc ever figured out

2. Nervous breakdown at work(so much for that .25 raise.

3. Doctor wrote a note for me to have 2-4 months off.

4. About the 2nd day home, I had my first full blown mania in the form of sun up to sun down yardwork. Very high intensity-worked till I could barely move. Went on for 30 days and spent a ton of money. DX of Bipolar II. Only took 22 years for a psychiatrist to figure that out. The earlier bipolar is treated the better. No wonder I've had problems.

5. Got a full body very gross rash. That turned in to 30 days or more of running a fever daily. One late Sunday night, fever reached 104.3. Usually my daily fever was around 102. Doctor referred me to infectious disease specialist and after CT scan, etc., she never figured it out.
I asked her if she had a gut feeling about what it might be(before all the testing). She said Stills Disease or possibly lymphoma. My body ached like I had been beaten with a hammer. Whatever I had, I hope no one else ever gets it.

6. Filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy and I'm still not in the black with my basic bills.

7. Ran up a $600.00 bill w/ my shrink. She wanted to talk to me about it but I would have to pay $100.00 for 30 minutes to talk. Had to borrow money from my brother to see her...twice.
She was not nice about it-not even close.

8. Sitting here on the computer one rainy night and my ceiling caved in from a leaky roof that still isn't fixed. I have a board duct taped to the ceiling.

9. I'm currently in the process of getting over a severe case of bronchitis. My doc sent me for xrays thinking I might have walking pneumonia again. I'm taking antibiotics the size of the Goodyear blimp.

10. Missing many days at work and am petrified of losing my job.

11. My depression is, as I said before, winning the battle.

What else can I say? Well, I've survived. I may even actually celebrate New Year's this year instead of hiding under the covers.

Phil,
If you can celebrate the New Year, please DO!

:)

Thinking of you!

Thanks my friend and partner in crime. : )
I think I will try to 'do something' for New Year's. Usually, I can't be bothered which is part of the whole problem.
Maybe I'll pick up some non-alcohol beer and get placebo drunk. I really feel that I've got to find a better, more spiritual way to actually enjoy this time of year. It's such a steam-roller time for us all. Even normals flip out at Christmas. Family...ACKKKK!!

My therapist suggested that I draw mandalas one year. I think I did a series of about 20 of them, starting around the
Christmas season and finished my first one on New Year's Eve. I found it very relaxing. All you need is a circle on a piece of paper and you can get as elaborate as you like.

I saw a mandala a couple of years ago that a student did out of collected leaves, berries, twigs etc. from the woods. (Use your bottle caps from your placebo drunk!)

I used india ink, acrylic and watercolor paints, and pastels. My therapist draws mandalas in the sand on the beach. Don't worry about making it look official. A mandala can be whatever you want it to be...

After reading your BTW post, you could use old antidepressants to make a mandala. I've got bottles of leftovers from trials that didn't work... blue, purple, yellow, white...

Alli...
That sounds very cool, I think I'll give it a go just to see if I can.
Frankly, I was thinking about making Banjos but then I realized I didn't have a clue as to how to build one. Besides Alli, the world don't need no more banjos.
How's that for a segway? : )

>> Cool. I'm currenty packin a green pill the color that they used to paint offices in the 50's.
I have a stunning beige/grey-goldenrod mix, good old Clonazepam pink. Also a light baby blue, fully scored, 5-sided Lamictal. Can't forget the Easter yellow B52 antibiotics. I've got an amazing inhaler that's kinda round and is a purple lavender mix. Very 21st century. Even has a backwards counting odometer on it to count how many hits..sorry, inhalations are left.
How big can you make these gondolas, anyhoo? I'm sorry, mandalas. :)

I dunno about a segway, but it would make a great song title.
