My 2004....a year best forgotten

Posted by Phil on December 8, 2004, at 7:34:33

I guess I'll put this in a list-too much writing otherwise.

1. Urinary infection that no doc ever figured out

2. Nervous breakdown at work(so much for that .25 raise.

3. Doctor wrote a note for me to have 2-4 months off.

4. About the 2nd day home, I had my first full blown mania in the form of sun up to sun down yardwork. Very high intensity-worked till I could barely move. Went on for 30 days and spent a ton of money. DX of Bipolar II. Only took 22 years for a psychiatrist to figure that out. The earlier bipolar is treated the better. No wonder I've had problems.

5. Got a full body very gross rash. That turned in to 30 days or more of running a fever daily. One late Sunday night, fever reached 104.3. Usually my daily fever was around 102. Doctor referred me to infectious disease specialist and after CT scan, etc., she never figured it out.
I asked her if she had a gut feeling about what it might be(before all the testing). She said Stills Disease or possibly lymphoma. My body ached like I had been beaten with a hammer. Whatever I had, I hope no one else ever gets it.

6. Filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy and I'm still not in the black with my basic bills.

7. Ran up a $600.00 bill w/ my shrink. She wanted to talk to me about it but I would have to pay $100.00 for 30 minutes to talk. Had to borrow money from my brother to see her...twice.
She was not nice about it-not even close.

8. Sitting here on the computer one rainy night and my ceiling caved in from a leaky roof that still isn't fixed. I have a board duct taped to the ceiling.

9. I'm currently in the process of getting over a severe case of bronchitis. My doc sent me for xrays thinking I might have walking pneumonia again. I'm taking antibiotics the size of the Goodyear blimp.

10. Missing many days at work and am petrified of losing my job.

11. My depression is, as I said before, winning the battle.

What else can I say? Well, I've survived. I may even actually celebrate New Year's this year instead of hiding under the covers.
