2 inches of SNOWWWWWWWWWWW

Posted by Kath on October 21, 2008, at 20:26:26

Yes - that's right! Today. Snowed all day.

And the snow stayed on ground & in trees.

EEEEUK.

My husband assures me it will melt. I couldn't handle actual winter starting already!

Kath have a feeling we're in for a hard winter as frost called for in NC and that is the south tonight. Wish I was in Arizona or California temp in the 90's according to weather channel. And fill me in on what's going on how do you feel? Love Jan

Thx Jan - you're a sweetie.

I am feeling quite a bit more stable. I had some energy work done yesterday (by phone - I know lots of people would consider that weird). Before it, I was feeling REALLY depressed. By the end of the 1/2 hour session I was feeling really GOOD!!! Not the least bit depressed...quite detached from all son stuff. That lasted until this morning. I'm a bit 'wobbly' this morning. Almost as if I still have that better feeling, but it's not as solid. I'm going to spend the afternoon curled up on sofa in my bright, sunny living room with my lovely Ginger cat always by my side (he's more like a dog). I think I need that right now.

Yes - some heat round about now would be lovely. The thought of cold, snowy winter is NOT pleasant.

hugs, Kath & thx for asking how I am Jan.

luv, K

Hi Kath

I recently flew a thousand miles to experience snow falling and, unlike previous efforts, I managed to be in falling snow for a day or so here

http://www.goodearl.com.au/tasmania/R0010274.JPG

but not here, where it would have been too cold

People who have problems with snow should be sentenced to a desert island such as this

(where we were lucky enough to go regularly before the developers got there) for a year or two to cure them of their problem.

Anyway, yesterday we had 2 inches of hail which is not nearly so much fun as snow, though I did think as I walked through it that all I needed was a glass and a bottle of good scotch and everything would be hunky dory.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ SO pretty!!! OKay - I guess snow falling is pretty magical & special in an of itself. HowEVER - one can get just a TAD sick of it after decades of having it for 4 - 4 1/2 months of each year! :-) ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ ~ yes - I agree! That is a BIT much!!! The sign "CRADLE" made me laugh. Here's this wilderness of cold & snow - a cradle is the very last thing I'd think of in that! ~ ~ ~

Oh My. (cut & pasted link & sent from outside Babble)

Tell me more - it looks like just rock - volcanic rock or something, but obviously there's a tree that we're looking out through. Was there a town? Where did you stay? Were you right new the water? Etc. ETc.

I felt sad when I saw the picture & linked it with the word "developers" in my mind. What happened? Did they build big scyscaper buildings right along the water's edge?

luv, Kath

We used to go to Stradbroke Island in 1970 and there was very little there on the ocean side....a pub, a couple of houses, some cabins for rent, and it is only since I realised how lucky we were. We could have a shower at the place we were staying on Cylinder Beach and look over the small door and see the green grass and beyond that the Pacific Ocean. It was just magnificent.

I haven't been back for more than 20 years. I expect I would hate what they have done to it, but there wouldn't be any skyscapers....more just some suburbs.

This isn't a bad picture of Cradle Mountain. I have often been to Marion's Lookout, from where this photo was taken. You can spend all day climbing and it's very good for the nerves.

You're right - that word should NOT be allowed!!! The weather-gods might see it & get ideas.

Where do you live (in general).

:-) Kath

PS - most of it has melted!

No Kath
That's in Tasmania, the small island down the bottom of Australia, 1000 miles away.
It was once glaciated which gives it an unusual appearance.
It feels very very old.
Due to the glaciation there are lakes which overflow into lakes at a lower level.
This is fascinating to me because running fresh water is not common here.
