We used to go to Stradbroke Island in 1970 and there was very little there on the ocean side....a pub, a couple of houses, some cabins for rent, and it is only since I realised how lucky we were. We could have a shower at the place we were staying on Cylinder Beach and look over the small door and see the green grass and beyond that the Pacific Ocean. It was just magnificent.
I haven't been back for more than 20 years. I expect I would hate what they have done to it, but there wouldn't be any skyscapers....more just some suburbs.
This isn't a bad picture of Cradle Mountain. I have often been to Marion's Lookout, from where this photo was taken. You can spend all day climbing and it's very good for the nerves.
