Just like the compulsive obsessive person I am, I compulsive garden. Anything I do compulsively I usually do quite well. Compulsive eat. Compulsive drink. Compulsive smoke. Compulsive shop. Compulsive-aholic.
I ordered yellow lilac bushes off E-Bay. They are rare. I have plenty of purple. In many different shades. I don't have yellow. I ordered 3 bushes. Gave one to my MIL who is a princess gardener to my queenlyness. Of the two left, one has sprouted a small sprig of blooms. The sprig is purple. I know - buyer beware. Whatever happened to getting what you paid for. It may take$75.00 to fill my SUV with gas, but I'm pretty sure it's gas, not water.
So now, I have to find time to find that seller's e-mail and send them a note of my discovery.
By the way, I get the impression that life is what you make of it. IF I spend the rest of my life crying and feeling sorry for myself, I will end up a misserable old lonely woman. Guess I need to get a hold of those boot straps and pull myself up out of the pig sh*t, because it ain't getting better on it's own.

I think some compulsive things might be good for us...as long as they don't interfere in negative ways with our life. Gardening sounds like a relaxing hobby. It gives you purpose and occupies your time.
Sorry 'bout getting the purple instead of the yellow. I hope you get your money back or get a free replacement.

I saw that Wayside Gardens is carrying yellow lilacs again, bare root. Might be too late to plant them this year. Here it's already boiling hot.
I have always wanted lilac bushes, but I'm in Zone 9.
My garden is past being a source of comfort. :( I want to get a professional to come out and re-establish the beds, but my husband's balking at the cost.
Do you get to garden often? I used to love my annuals and go out every weekend early in the morning to deadhead them and keep them fresh. Very soothing.

But many times I don't get to do much at all. Depends on who wants what from me.

I understand.
I've been fighting the urge to hide under the bed whenever the phone rings. I just can't stand one more person needing one more thing from me.
Not even the things they're entitled to need.
This is the end of the thread.
