THe mind of a 5 year old.. this kid of mine!

Posted by Spriggy on April 10, 2005, at 15:08:39

My 5 year old is one of the funniest little creatures I do think God has ever made.

Here's a few things just this last week he has said:

1) we are sitting at the airport waiting to get on the plane to Disneyland. He is eating a bagel. He puts his hands behind his head and says, " Oh yeaaah.. this is the life." LOL

2) He is eating his Cheerios yesterday morn. Looks at me and says, " mom look what I'm doing?" I said.. "what?" he said, " I'm lowerin' my cholesterol." LOL

3) today he goes to eat his hamburger, he looks at it and says, " Come to PAPPA."

LOL.. oh this kid!

Yeah this is one funny guy I have.

You should hear him explaining his big brother's "autism" to the rest of the world.

We will be standing in line at say... Burger King (or elsewhere) and he says to people in line, " Hi there.. my name is Jacob. I am five. This is my brother Austin, he is ten but he can't talk too well because his brain is broken. It's nice to meet you."

That is his "formal" getting to know you greeting and then proceeds to shake the stranger's hand.

The other day he looks at his brother, and he says, " Austin, I know your brain is broken and stuff but your face still makes me smile."

That melted my heart to pieces.. He has officially become the "older" little brother. He has been great therapy for my oldest son.. ha!

Oh what a joy these boys' are. What a gift.

Oh Spriggy, how lucky you are to have your own little buddha. Thank you both for making me smile and very nearly cry.

Kids are so wise in their own way!! They just state the facts, this-is-the-way-it-is, and that's that. I think you son is going to grow up to be a very kind, understanding man, as a result of having a sibling with special needs.
