Come on, come on, don't be shy.........

If you need specific directions to the posts in questions, I cannot help you on that for I am new and have no clue how to do that. However, I am well aware that there are those that do know, you might direct your questions to them.

Those of you who would like to rip this or any and all of my posts to shreds feel free to do so. Afterall, you are going to with or without my permission or involvement.

Have a lovely bowl of cherries day,

AdaGrace

I find living my life through sarcasm and humor reminds me that I as well as everyone else are only human. But those that can see life through humor are blessed indeed.

I really enjoy you partlycloudy.......

Have a great day!!!!

Light therapy » trucker

Hi trucker, I am trying light therapy for the first time this year on the recommendation of my pdoc. I purchased a floor lamp with a dimmer switch that gives out 10,000 lumen at the highest setting. I purchased it at Full Spectrum Solutions on the web. I don't have the URL handy, but it came up easily on a google search. I thought it was reasonably priced, and they delievered it within two days.

You can find a lot about light boxes if you google the archives here. That's how I got started in deciding this. Also, I am waiting to hear from my insurance if they will cover any part of it. Keep you fingers crossed! :)

It is helping. Unfortunately, I have been a bit lazy with being consistent with it. It has to do with wanting to sleep late every morning, which, ironically, is part of my depression. Sigh, all those things that I know are good for me and help are hard to implement at times. I feel lazy, but it's the depression talking.

So yes, it does help. I notice a difference if I don't get my time in. And actually, I use that 30 minutes for "me" time, too, reading stuff for pleasure or playing a game on my palm pilot versus doing work.

I also saw a study on Medscape just today where the conclusion was that light therapy was as helpful for SAD as medication (I forget which one...maybe Prozac). Their protocol was 10,000 lumens, 30 minutes per day in the a.m. usually between 7 and 8. I actually have to do it a bit earlier, around six, if I do it in the morning. Which is much much better than doing it in the evening, as I have at times.

If you check out some good brands and pick a few that you like, you may get a break on one at Ebay....just a thought. I would have saved a ton on a noise generator, if I'd have gone the Ebay route.

Aside: you call yourself trucker. Are you one? I broke my arm, or I'd probably be out in a nice black flat-top Pete right now.

I hate team driving. I'm just too independent.

Why is driving adverse to your mental and physical health?

> we own a 2000 western star and it is nice but too small for me...

It's too small? In what way? Western Stars are my second most favoured tractor, next to Peterbilt.

well the reason why it isn't good for mental health is i am trapped in the small confines of a truck with a very NEGATIVE SICK INDIVIDUAL..whom i love... he needs help and doesn't admit it... and it is too much for me .. and i have always been alone driving truck.. then forced to be team operator... not healthy.. then there is no good sleep.. we put 7000 miles a week on the thing and the truck NEVER stops accept for fuel... i would rather drive alone as i use to.. of course GOD forbid if i do. cause i don't put up with anything.i also was never to walk again or work again due to an act of nature accident.. the whole face of a mountain came down on me and my truck and i was never to walk again, or work again and by the grace of GOD i can do both.. however it is uncomfortable for my back and legs.. i am broken up somewhat..

If you'll forgive the simplicity of the implication, is it not possible that your marriage is too small, rather than the truck?

no my marriage is fine.. my marriage is large enough to suit my needs.. the truck, may be you haven't ever experienced the togetherness of, 24 hours a day 7 days a week, 7000 miles a week, no breaks to enjoy the sights.. it takes a special relationship to last a couple of months under those circumstances and we were in the truck a year under those circumstances.. i think we do just fine.. we have a working relationship and thats is what is important...how ever if ya never been in that type of job/lifestyle you really can't understand the "small truck syndrom"
